Full description
Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest mines in the world. Written by UNESCO on the first World Heritage List. Salt Mines are visited by over 1 million tourists each year.
Your tour begins with transportation from Krakow to the town Wieliczka where the Salt Mine is located. The driver will pick you up from the place of your choice, hotel or apartment in Krakow. The travel will take about 30 minutes. There will be a short break for a toilet. Next, you will pass the ticket control.
As part of the visit, you will receive an individual entrance ticket to the Salt Mine and a professional your language speaking guide. During the tour you will earn about the history of salt mining in particular historical periods. With a guide, you will visit a maze of corridors and a complex of thematic chambers where there are numerous sculptures carved into the rock, chapel and an underground lake. You will feel the unique microclimate of the mine, which is ideal for people suffering from asthma and allergies, you will experience the benefits for your health. The temperature underground is 15º-16ºC. The mine has 9 levels, the first of which extends to a depth of 64 meters, and the last one is 327 meters below the surface of the Earth. The route is about 800 steps, of which 380 at the beginning, so be sure to assuming comfortable shoes. Nevertheless, most of the sightseeing route will be covered on flat terrain. Going through the next parts, you always go down and at the end of the tour you will return to the upper part by the elevator.
After the tour, the driver, who will be waiting for you in the parking lot, will take you back to Krakow.

Lots of walking and stairs
There are a lot of stairs in the Salt Mine, but mostly down. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes. You will return to the surface using the elevator.

The temperature underground is 15º-16ºC. If it's too cold for you, remember to bring warm clothes.
Hand luggage
You can leave your hand luggage on the bus for the duration of the trip.
Not wheelchair accessible
Moving around the mine requires full physical fitness. This tour is not recommended for travelers with back problems, wheelchair users, pregnant travelers, heart problems, or other serious medical conditions. NOT accessible for: wheelchairs, small scooters, crutches, canes, or walking frames, baby strollers.
